New 1100T, and windows seems slower?

Thread Starter
I'm using a 1100T, Asus M4A88T-V Evo/USB3, G skill 4gb 1600 ram, but I'm using my hard drive from my old rig. Windows 7. Gaming is super faster from my X2 5600+, but sometimes opening programs in windows hangs, like I counted 8 seconds to open Internet Explorer. Intallation files takes ages to kick in on loading bar, say might freeze on 0% after about 10-20 seconds then it decides to install. Windows start up sometimes takes ages too.

Im using an IDE 7200rpm Hard Drive. I did not really experience this, even if it did, that would have been normal on a AMD X2 5600+

Any suggestions what it might be?

The default speed of the 1100T memory controller is slower than the default speed of the memory controller of the X2 5600+. Raise it up

Looks like the drive is dying.
Faster drives open programs and boot Windows faster.

Memory controller is CPU-NB multiplier. Most Thubans can do 3000MHZ with a slight voltage bump, ~1.3v or so.

Another possibility is the idiotic Turbo Boost and C&Q features. They really do more hard than good, so I'd disable them, along with C1E.

Even if your drive isn't dying, I'd replace it. 5200RPM is a major windows bottleneck for productivity. Check out the 120GB OCZ Durable 3 SSD for only $250. It will seem lightning quick

New drive will breath life into a system. Seriously, I bought a Spinpoint f3 for my uncle and he has a single core, regular usage is way snappier than before.

Did you do a clean install of windows? If not, perhaps its all the hardware junk / drivers left around from previous mobo / PC build.
