Need help with Intel 6230 wireless adapter - Bluetooth particularly

I bought the adapter off Amazon in hopes of ditching the USB Bluetooth adapter I had, and everything seemed to work fine - up until I tried accessing my phone through Bluetooth.

With my previous USB adapter, I could send/receive files with the phone, and explore the phone's file system. Now, with the Intel adapter, I can still connect to the phone, but I can't send/receive files and when trying to explore the file system, it mentions something about not being able to get Bluetooth FTP remote access.

Additionally, no hardware or services show up when I look at the device properties of the phone I pair with my PC, and often times clicking some option or tab within the Bluetooth settings will make it hang.

Can anybody help? Even though it was only ~$30, I'm hoping I didn't spend that much for a wireless adapter when my previous one worked perfectly well and fast.

Have you installed the correct drivers?

Yes, uninstalled the ASUS drivers, and installed both the newest Wifi and the Bluetooth drivers from Intel's site. Googling the issue (or the specific wording of the error) brings up nothing.

I may do a Windows reinstall sometime this week, though - I'm hoping I just disabled some service or something (in an effort to speed up boot time and reduce RAM usage) that's causing this issue. I need to reinstall it anyway, my SSD is getting slow >_>

I already had it at "Maximum Performance," and went ahead and tried disabling some option that allowed Windows to turn off Bluetooth to save power...neither makes a difference. I'm going to reformat my laptop today and/or tomorrow hopefully, and I'll post whether doing a clean install of anything changes anything.

Alright. Reformatted and reinstalled Windows 7, made sure not to touch any Windows services or settings, and it works now - I can even play music and backup my contacts via Bluetooth now too, neither of which I was able to do with the ASUS dongle I had (at least AFAIK).
