Safe to run i5 2500k @ 5ghz 1.6v low 90's-c? - Page 7

1.6v ? i wouldn't leave it perminatly on that .. i sometimes worry about my 1.47v .

Theres one rule though , if your cooling is up to the job .. the voltage means nothing .

90c under full load is too warm , try for 85c and under for 24/7 overclock ..

not true, even if your running subzero temps and running 1.8v your chances of degradtion is still at it's highest. I think it's something called electromigration.

I thought sandy bridges run cooler and you can get a high overclock with the stock cooler?
You can achieve 4.4Ghz-4.5Ghz on the stock cooling, but you WILL hit 80 Celcius on Prime, assured. I'm currently at 4.0Ghz 46-50 Celcius IDLE, it hangs from 73-77 Celcius on Prime...

And LLC is fixed in the B3 revision?! yay!

But if you say I'm running out of time, I'll try get round to it sooner, thanks for the heads up.
lol...just take it back to where you bought it from. The retailers HAVE to exchange it for a B3, or they will get in some serious trouble with Intel. But there was like a 3 month window for that. If they refuse to exchange it, contact Intel about the merchant and see how long that merchant is going to be allowed to sell Intel products anymore

Well yeah, 1.8v of course...but 1.6v should be fine on LN2 long term. Maybe even on SS/Phase, if you can maintain temps around 0C.

Funny tho. you still on 260s, but want to kill your cpu. kill the 260s and then cpu, better order.

AS for ppl saying volts dont matter, with chips geting smaller and smaller volts will be lower and lower, temps matter but you cant do 1.8volts on i7 X58 or new SB even @ -0 cooling and think it will not die fast your wrong.
the problom is the volts kill the cpus and temps, once u get temps down, with lnc or what ever still have a limit on volts. if not why could they not hit 10000 ghz on p4? or the 1155 pin? becase thare are limits, on sb its 1.45 or so.

1.52 is highest safe voltage. 1.60 is pushing it but chances are it wont do much. If you get 5ghz now in 6 months you might only be at 4.8GHz @ 1.6v. So its more like your Overclock gets degraded. I used to run my e5200 at 1.51v all the time and the recommended safe was like 1.45? Anyway I gave it to my dad and hes had it for a year after I had it for 2 and its strong as ever, still overclocked. But you really should have better cooling for that cpu, especially at 1.6v lmao. My 2500k gets to 90c on intel's stress test at 4.8GHz @ 1.42v
