Long red SATA wire on HAF X/HAF X front panel and motherboard risk?

Thread Starter
Hi. I have the nVidia HAF X. I already connected the 2 long USB 3.0 cords to the back of the case. I though the long red SATA cable would do the same but I can't find the slot where it's suppose to go. Nothing wants to fit for me. Can anyone inform me what I am to do with it?

Also, I have already put my system together and for the first time am hearing about the problem with the front-header damaging motherboards. I was about to turn the system on for the first time tomorrow. Is there anything I should know about this problem or can do to prevent it before I turn it on? Thanks.

The sata cable should go right into an open sata port on your motherboard where your other hard drives are connected (inside your case)

DevilGear is right, it just connects to a spare sata port on your mb.
It's for the front panel esata. You don't have to connect it up if you don't use it, I didn't. Mainly because I don't have any spare sata ports.

Ohhhhhhh. Ok. Y'see, it's so freaking long I though it went in the back of the case just like the blue USB cords do. Thanks!

OK, so does anyone have an answer to my second question?

which front header are you referring too? the whole front panel in general or something specific?
The only thing I can think of that MIGHT do damage is the front panel audio (only if you connect the wrong one). There's AC'97 or HD, it should say in your motherboard manual which one to connect for your system.
