reccommend me a rock solid, reliable, efficient psu for Crossfire asus ares 5870x2

As the title states

The cards are on the way from newegg

Setup will be either high end 2600k build or hopefully BD FX 8 core

Want ample oc room for both the cpu and gpu's

in addition will be running one optical drive

an ssd

two 7200 rpm drives

and about 8 fans

I am mostly concerned about relaibility/performance with efficiency being pretty important as well. Don't care how loud it is as I will never here it over the other fans.

If you are willing to go all out, Grab the AX1200 from Corsair. $280 and fully modular. 80+ Gold if you please.

I am going to correct you here...so don't get mad.

Asus Ares is only called the Asus Ares because there is no other card like it. A 5870x2 is the 5970. Ares makes the 5970 look like a child's toy (at least in looks, clock speed, and overclocking headroom. Plus it is a monster of a card and has some really serious voltage regulatory systems onboard. Add that onto the fact you need 3 PCIe plugs... Yeah no other card like it other than the Asus Mars).

Also as for dual beasts of a card like that, I would get a 1000w PSU. Not sure what are some good 1000w PSUs are though.

The AX1200 mentioned above is a great choice. Or if you want something a little less expensive, this Enermax is a good alternative: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817194081

I was going to say, "Ares, wow... moneybags" lol.

I'm not sure I know much about the Ares but they are 2 5870s right? So this would be a quadfire 5870 setup? You can safely figure about 200W / core or 800W for the GPUs, and maybe 200W for the CPU. You might be able to get away with an 850W PSU but to be safe and happy 1000W+ is probably a better target for you.

The AX1200 is definitely one of the best out there for now, and I agree with that recommendation first and foremost.

If you want some variety of options however, I'm always a fan of the NZXT Hale90 series as they look and perform awesomely. The CM SilentPro Gold is... good, and shouldn't give you any problems, and comes in a fair bit cheaper. Silverstone Strider 1200 I've heard good things about, though I don't know a super large amount about it myself. All good options really.

But my money is on AX1200 for now.
