Gtx 295 --> gtx 580 ? - Page 2

Just upgrade to a GTX 580 now, no game coming out anytime soon is going to be unplayable on any of the current high end cards.

If you need the best of everything I guess I would wait for the next round to be released but don't wait in hopes of much cheaper prices, they don't drop that much.

sounds good! I know i can still sell the gtx 295 for a good price and yeah, the micro stutter is KILLING me. I'll also start saving for an end of year upgrade if it's necessary with BF3 smile.gif
post #13 of 27
Good luck with that upgrade. I actually ended up with the same setup, GTX 295 > GTX 580 and couldn't be anymore happier. I loved the GTX 295 but the generation moved on and it became obsolete. Not even useful just for PHYSX so definitely sell it.
The GTX 295 gives roughly the same results as a GTX 480.
To give you an example with the Heaven benchmark, just one gtx 580 does Direct x 11 better than the gtx 295 does in Direct X 10.
I liked the card so much that I eneded up getting two of them... smile.gif

That chart is hypothetical as far as expected performance.

Just upgrade, it's funny to me how some people around here care about 2 things only: bang for buck and always waiting for what's coming next.

Upgrade and enjoy it is my best advice.

waiting for what's coming next = waiting endlessly because there will be new GPU released for every 6 months , lolz

Good luck with that. 1ghz on a 580 is very difficult, and usually requires modified bios' and water/ln2.

@OP The 580 is an amazing card. You will get better performance than your 295 with much less issues. Go for it. smile.gif

On water with moded bios to get 1.2v for gpu I can do it smile.gif
No voltage inc. I can get 880mhz gpu stable in all games.
With voltage 1.15 I can get 950mhz gpu stable in all games.
So not rly that hard smile.gif

580 that, 580 that and 580 that. Most horrible price/performance option.

Get two 6870s and laugh at it. Not only does it cost way less, it's also much faster.
