U2311H or LG IPS231P-BN

Yeah i know.. this thread again... But Picking Two of either of these bad boys for my new setup this week. And had my mind set on the U2311h but as silly as it is i have other things im buying off newegg and would like to just do one transaction. Saw they actually stock a couple of IPS panels and was trying to decide on which is the better option. checked out specs further on all monitors seems the LG is just an ips screen not E-IPS like the u23. At the same time to my understanding over in the other lg monitor thread.. LG other ips 23 inch model turned out to be a TN panel.. so idk how i feel about them to much... appereantly though this LG is using the same panel as the NEC which im also interested in since once again its on newegg.

I had the LG 231P for about a week. I did return it though but only because it was too small for me. Other than that it was a good IPS. Colors were spot on, I had no backlight bleed very thin bezel and all the text and icons were very sharp. Gaming on it was fine also, but I do use Vysnc while gaming. The only thing I did not like was the stand was a bit wobbly. All in all it was a good IPS monitor for only $230...

Hmm sounds tempting thanks for your reply falcon! definitely can't tell the build quality of the stand just by looking at it!.. sucks its not super strong but i think i can manage if it supports portrait which i think it does.. or i might even put in the extra for the NEC's waiting to see someone with u2311h and LG or NEC knowledge would recommend.. because to my understanding the dell is still considered the best of budget ips's even with all these new budget ips coming out with updated displays!

I was looking at the LG before I bought my U2311's - mainly bought the Dell's because they were cheaper (I paid $210 a piece, tax and shipping incl.) and preferred the base and overall styling. I saw the LG in person and the two monitors are pretty much identical... but the square bases of my Dell's go much better with my case. Nitpicking though really, just get the one that has the best price.

Dang lucky you if i could find u23's for that price i'd snatch them as well... but i'm thinking the same that you are thinking which ever one is the cheapest just go for it... i never had an ips have a decent tn panel from asus but i was looking at the u23's last year and never got them off my mind lol... but like i said i plan to go with newegg free shipping no tax etc. etc. ill take your word on that as far as cosmetics go idc as long as the functionality is there... basic portrait mode stands and great viewing angles/ color

Which monitor did you go with, I'm looking at three IPS231P-BN's with a three monitor stand to run them in portrait for gaming.
