Linksys E4200 or Netgear WNDR4000? - Page 2

I don't have either one of the particular models you are asking about, but I do have a Netgear WNR3500L, and it's the best router I have ever had (and I haven't put dd-wrt on it yet). So I don't think you could go wrong with a higher end model Netgear.

The netgear is new so like you said DD-WRT firmware is not an option as of now. The Linksys cisco routers have a problem with overheating (even the 4200). If you do a plan to get the E4200 buy some rubber stoppers to elevate it and get better airflow. With this in mind, I recommend the WNDR3700 with the latest DD-WRT firmware. This is a great router and my friend has taken the time time to set it up and configure it so it runs really well.
