But I was asking if it was worth the $40. I'm more of an endgame guy and I like to have multiple characters with different roles when it comes to raids, etc. I like getting gear and having to upgrade my gear and such. I like PvP to, but it took me some time to get good at WoW's PVP (tired of WoW now and doesn't think WoW is the greatest game ever so I'm willing to try others), so PvP could be an option for me. Just wondering if this is the game for me, that's all.

That is basically the purpose of gw. Level cap at 20 and each game had an ending to the story before you get to all the dungeons and elite zones. You can easily get through the game quickly with multiple characters.

PvP chars also allow you to make a max character with access to every unlocked skill to use without playing through the game.

Quite literally what you are liking for is what guild wars offers.

Um, I have 18 Titles on my primary toon. No way I am maxing out the PvP titles. I am not much interested in maxing the $$ Titles either. When I finish the Racial titles (Ebon, Asuran, and Dwarven) I will probably stop Title grinding.

Oh, I got a reply from NCSoft regarding my hacking:

Quote:
We appreciate your patience during our investigation. Your account was accessed by Chinese IP address on the 17th. I recommend that you immediately scan your computer for viruses as this intrusion may have been caused by a keylogger being downloaded onto your computer. Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date before scanning, and then be sure to change the passwords to your NCsoft and Guild Wars accounts immediately after.

Here are some tips to help you protect your account and keep your computer secure.

1. Never give your passwords to anyone, including family, friends, or guildmates.

Even if the person is normally trustworthy, you cannot guarantee that they will be following the same strong security precautions that you will follow. Also, there have been occasions when friends have deleted items or characters (often by accident) without the owner's knowledge or permission. If you believe someone may have learned your password, change it right away.

2. Do not re-use the same username and password on other accounts.

For example, if someone learns the e-mail address and password that you use for a certain message board, it will be easy for them to log into your game account if you use the same e-mail address and password. Use different passwords to improve your account security.

3. Do not install third-party software (i.e. software not created by NCsoft or ArenaNet).

Programs that claim to be item modifiers, cheat programs, or even harmless looking programs such as attribute, skill, or dye calculators might actually contain a harmful virus or keylogger that could allow someone to steal your account information. If you think you have accidentally installed a keylogger on your computer, you should:

a. Obtain anti-virus software, make sure it is updated with the latest files, and scan your system for viruses and key-loggers.
b. Change all the passwords for accounts that you may have accessed after installing the third party software, such as your Guild Wars game account, PlayNC master account, e-mail address account, fansite forum accounts, etc.
c. Never download any untrustworthy programs in the future! Even if you are confident that you can trust the third-party, please use extreme caution. Virus and keylogger creators rely on your trusting nature to help them steal your accounts from you.

4. Please review our Security FAQ at the following URL, which includes additional information for keeping your Guild Wars account secure:

http://help.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/ncsof...hp?p_faqid=993

Please contact us again if you have any question or comments regarding this or any other issue.

Regards,
GM ApplePython

Here was my response:

Quote:
Thank you for your reply.

I did change my game and NCSoft account passwords. My AV is up to date and I am virus and malware free.

1. I have never shared my account and password information.
2. The Guild Wars account name is a registered mail address, as per the installation instructions. The password was not one I used frequently for other things.
3. I have never installed any cheats or hacks for Guild Wars. Neither have I purchased any illegal goods, ie. gold, ectos, etc..

I feel that this was more of a brute force hack. I searched online for my hotmail address and came up with nothing. I was hoping that you would be able to help me more than just to tell me stuff I already do.
I figured there was no such thing as a roll back, but my hopes are nonetheless dashed.

Guildwars is very different, if you approach it with the same mentality as wow then i think you may find you have issues with the game.

Gearing up is more or less purely cosmetic, once you hit lvl 20 you will most likely have access to max level armour this armour is in all but looks as good as your armour will ever be in the game no matter how much you play (you will learn what upgrades best suit your purposes etc but those can be applied to any armour)

the same is true of your weapons, My sword warrior uses a requirement 8 max damage 15% stances gold fel blade which is probably worth more than most peoples entire account in terms of gold but in terms of how it performs that sword is no better than a req13 (assuming you like everyone else use more than 13 sword mastery) maxed inscribable blue with the most boring skin in the game, which most people would consider to be vendor trash.

Assuming you understand the core mechanics and can make good gear choices gear becomes more about rarity and prestige in guildwars than actual stats.

That said if you are aware of that and you dont let it bother you there is a vast wealth of end game content hardmodes and high level pve zones which will require time and effort to work out and can be immensely satisfying.

PVP in guildwars is a completely different kettle of fish than wow too, it is by and large far more tactical and requires allot more positioning and tactical team play than wow ever has. I've played both games pvp at pretty damn high level (rank 9 on guildwars back before IWAY GM and gladiator mulitple times on wow) and i would say breaking into the guildwars high end pvp scene is far harder but there are plenty of options for smaller scale pvp that is easier to break into and maintains a high level of competitive play.
