PCI-e DDR or DDR2 or DDR3 or what so ever?

Thread Starter
Just have some confusing about the memory type of PCI-e. I have 2 pc with Intel Socket 775.

Asus P5GC-MX/1333
Asus P5KPL-AM SE

Both motherboards supports PCI-e. I want to buy video cards for them but I'm just confused what kind of pci-e video cards that will compatible to them.

There are PCI-e video cards that have ddr or ddr2 or ddr3 memories. I also read some in the web that there are alos PCI-e version. I'm very confused with this things.

Does DDRX really matters? What DDR type will be compatible with the above motherboards?

How about the PCI-e versions?

Can anyone help me? And also if you chance, can you also recommend me a good video cards for the 2 motherboards? 1GB or 512 MB video card memory will do.

Thanks and hoping for some help redface.gif

What kind of memory is on the card has nothing to do with compability to your computer. Don't even worry about it.

There is PCI-e and PCI-e 2.0, they are both backwards and forwards compatable, so there's nothing to worry about.

What's your price range for the video card and what country do you live in?

The type of memory on the graphics card has no bearing on its compatibility with the system. PCI Express is very easy to work with, if the card fits it will work. You may have some power supply issues depending on the card but that has nothing to do with the PCI Express slots.

Can you provide more information on the systems? What type of CPUs do you have? What do you use the systems for? What kind of graphics performance are you looking for?

Thanks for quick reply here. People here are very helpful biggrin.gif

I'm from the Philippines. I don't know what are the range of prices and we have different currencies but I will plan to buy here
Code:

The 2 motherboards have Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. 1 have the speed of 2.93Ghz and the other have 2.6 Ghz. Both have 1 GB memory but will also plan to upgrade the memories.

Their selection is pretty crappy and I have no idea whether those prices are high or low, but the GTS250 1GB is a solid card and will work well with the older hardware you have.
