1055t need help

Thread Starter
Hey, running into probs, first time overclocking.

These are the details i was given by a forum user to reach 3.8ghz

272 FSB x 14 (locked multiplier) = 3808MHz
1.4 vcore.
1.25v CPU-NB
2448MHz CPU-NB frequency (272 x 9)
1904MHz HT Frequency (272 x 7)

In BIOS i can set

FSB.....Fine

vcore...Fine

CPU-NB i can only set it 1.245 or 1.26 it wont allow me to set it to 1.25

CPU-NB Frequency set at x9...fine

HT Frequency only gives me the option once CPU-NB is at x9 the following values:
200, 400,..........1400, 1600, 1800
i can't set it to 1904MHz manually or set it to x7 and i am sure i seen 2000 option but once NB is at x9 it disapears.

computer will not even boot.

Any help would be great

You might have to clear the CMOS to get it to boot...

Those settings look pretty good, but all hardware is different... That FSB might be to high for that particular board, and might be the root cause of your problems.

What I would do is back that sucker down to like 250, and start working your way up. Just let the NB speed go where it wants, but try to keep the HT link as close to 2Ghz as possible, that is important. Keep the voltages where they are for now, as you will need something around there to get up higher

If you cannot post @ 250 FSB, just try like 225 and work your way up. Like I said, all hardware is different, so you are going to have to play around a bit to find the sweet spot for your board and CPU wink.gif

When you start to OC the FSB, the ram speed will increase, so double check your RAM divider to make sure the speed stays close to 1600Mhz. A little more or less will not hurt anything

thanks for the reply, i am a complete noob.

what is a ram divider? and how do i set it?

i am really confused about this becuase the fella who gave me the OC details in the first place told me to keep the ram at default speeds etc.

No problem man. The RAM speed is based off of the FSB speed, so as you OC the FSB, the ram speed will increase. You can think of the "divider" like any of the other multipliers. So for 1600Mhz at stock FSB, think about it like this (200 * X = 1600)

(It's not really how the math works but just an easy way to think about it)

So as you increase the FSB, if you do nothing with the RAM you will be running way out of spec... (You might actually be running the RAM @ 2224 Mhz currently) Which is WAY out of spec and for sure would not boot.

In my BIOS, there is a selector for ram speed that will adjust with the FSB speeds. Look for that option and select the one closest to 1600. Example, @ 250FSB, would prolly be around ~1625mhz or so. You can of course go lower to be on safe side, which can be a good thing for testing stability of a certain CPU speed. By lowering the RAM speed, you can remove that from the equation when troubleshooting

I have had alook and cant find anything like that, i can only set my ram speeds:
444MHz
592Mhz
666MHz
800Mhz

Cheers John

Ok that will work. Just set @ 800Mhz. Since DDR stands for Dual Data Rate, what you essentially get is 800 * 2 = 1600Mhz

Question is, when you up the FSB to 250, 270, whatever, do those values change? If they remain the same after the FSB has been adjusted then i think you are safe to just set @ 800 and move on

I had alook,

the HT freq can only be set in intervals 1600, 1800 and 2000 but that only shows on a lower fsb.

As for the ram, the values dont change.

I decided to run with fsb 250

and left everything on auto

From boot i was running at 3.5ghz a HT freq of 2000 and ram speed of 1332MHz

Think i cracked it...

I set the timings manually but left the ram frequency on auto,
I also left the HT on auto

i manually set:
vcore 1.4
fsb 272
and CPU-NB x9

I just booted:

3808.3MHz
HT link is 2448 is that high?
NB 2448.1

memorey is running
725.4MHz 3:8

it was 800 4:1

i am happy atm still to test with prime, is the HT link 2 high?
