Seriously though, every device will always use electricity or some sort of 'fuel'. And it will always depleted at some point. Except I see in the future a battery/power cell type thing that lasts for weeks. Still need to put it on your atom-level charger though every 2 weeks or so.

But for that kind of low power chips(remember 15W TDP is at almost ~80% load), that even with background light may extend significantly laptop's battery life. I'm talking about photovoltaic cells in the back of the display.

As well as fragile and heavy...

OT: All they are doing is making what we have more efficient. But that has limits, as well as the upward advancement of gpus and cpus has hit a limit with heat and power requirements (granted its arbitrary with pcie 2.0 standards). What we need is a paradigm shift due to some process or material breakthrough (graphene, I'm looking at YOU!). Or quantum computing, though thats far off.

Solar panels are ramping up in efficency while dropping in cost every few years. If R&D continues, the ROI on panels are decline.
