[BFBlog] Going back to Karkand DLC: Wake Island - Page 2

Good thing it's free. People would have been pissed to pay for one of the most popular maps in BF history.

Ahh Good times... good times.

Too bad I don't have any faith in DICE.

Can't wait for this I haven't played much BF2, so it might have this, but I thought this could be a good feature; let people on the ground call in an "airstrike." Basically, something where you'd press a key and it would mark that spot on the radar of any active jets. I have no idea if jets would actually attack those spots though.

I think essentially (at a higher level) is what you are wishing for is that BF3 is less of a console port than BC2 was, and I agree.

Heh, I can't see anyone swimming across the channel, but I guess if you really wanted to you could

I've only piloted a chopper a couple of times in BC2 but it wasn't very friendly. If it had the same control scheme as BF2 that would be very nice. I fly quite well with mouse+kb on BF2.

its not even released and theyre talking about DLC. what a scam.

EDIT: i retract my rage after seeing that its free.

Quite honestly, I thought the response time for the controls in BF2 and BC2 "feel" sluggish. The best to this day of any BF series is BF1942, and the desert combat mod. Crisp and quick controls. Very responsive. Loved to fly in BF1942.

Stop using the mouse, just use the KB for all of the controls. Or....get a joystick.

on bf2 a commander can call in mortar strikes, but i think it was confirmed bf3 wont have commanders.

Only on PC they do. Console chopper is easy mode. (AKA Vietnam chopper which is a complete port)
BF2 chopper on PC is a little overpowered. You can spin in a circle while hovering above a target.
I'm very good at controlling BC2 chopper on PC now(with a mouse no less) but it could be 100x better if it didn't act like a boat. Watch how ridiculously easy the console version is to fly:

Easy mode huh? Look how far he can angle down without losing any altitude or turn sharply without dropping like a rock. He's circling the target while angled down without losing any air... He's actually gaining altitude while angled down and turning!

DICE's excuse is that it's optimized on PC. Well take a look at what a real life Apache can do and see if you still believe that:

If you want some tips on flying the chopper in BC2 here's some advice:

I use this tool I found on the DICE UK BC2 forums.
You can google for it yourself:
Or download it from dl.dropbox.com/u/14472607/TG/Mouse config ver2+russian sounds fixed.7z
My settings with a DPI switching mouse are:

The important parts are the air and turret speeds. This lets you move the chopper without having to slide your mouse around your whole desk. I switch to high sensitivity on my mouse when piloting to make it even more responsive. You can swing around the AA turret very easily with this setting as well.
