Who knows every game might have "crysis-like" ambitions because they wont have to worry about people meeting the recommended system requirements.
I am sorry... but keep dreaming. While I agree that cloud computing and virtualization have their respective places in the future, I do not think it will be THE future. You have to take into account how many industries that your theory would cripple.

Hardware as it is now is developing at an amazing rate with 3D technology. You will never get enthusiasts like us to quit doing what we like to do.

If you think that this is the future, I highly recommend investing some capital into it.

Enthusiasts will not but most gamers including PC gamers arent enthusiasts and they make up the majority obviously. While high end systems have always been the optimal way to play games, Cloud can offer people who arent enthusiasts the chance to play the same games with probably the same graphics without having to resort to some console that is 6 years old or be limited by a laptop. Most people I know don't even own a desktop, so this cloud thing can at least have more people playing PC games and have consoles lose popularity.

This I don't disagree with. However It will not be "THE FUTURE" as you purposed in your last post.

nuff said. OnLive isn't that great and the way it's been marketing, it's close to flopping.

if the idea had more money behind it, then it might lift but in its current state...
tis very terrible

Might be good to play on a netbook, otherwise, no thanks.

Cloud = Awesome for google docs and all that stuff.

People stream most of their entertainment now it would make sense for them to do the same for gaming. Bandwidth is the main hurdle and the state of the Internet it is today wouldn't be able to accommodate all those games. I still don't know why does Onlive provide bad graphics and what is the performance like, fps, etc. Lag is a problem sure, I think its a work in progress, it just started 2 years ago. For any mobile person it would more than great, I can see myself one day being pawned in BF3 by some dude on an ipad, okay maybe not BF but starcraft or something.

Whats bad about their marketing? It looks like to me that all game developers have nothing but praise for cloud gaming with only console makers being skeptics.

I tried it out, and Amnesia: TDD didn't have too much control lag. I think it would be noticable in a twitch-shooter, but not in a puzzle game like that. I like how you can open the "Arena" and watch other people playing games.

They have a monthly-pay model for a large number of games (meaning you pay $10/month, you get access to 50 or so). I think it fits well with their "service" model. It's still not what I'd go for, but I think they still need to find their target audience (and they need to convince ISPs to stop being so stingy about their bandwidth)

I tried it out, it was okay but not something I'll ever use again. Why, well in my opinion, the graphics are really sub-par, it looked like the resolution was being stretched and the settings were between medium to low, and there was a very (and I mean very) slight delay in crysis which for some people would be fine but for me, I couldn't stand it. So as something free, its not a bad idea, I might use it time to time if I don't have access to my laptop or desktop but to a netbook and I want to game but I would never pay for it. If they can work out that slight lag and improve quality than I might try it again.
