What motherboard to go with? (P67 / Z68)

post #1 of 7
Thread Starter
A little bit stuck between the two. I know alot about the P67 but i don't know nothing about the Z68, like what it has to offer as such.

If anyone can recommend me a good motherboard for reasonable overclocking and possible SLI in future but not over priced. Price mark being around £150. Will be paired with a 2500k more than likely.

I only use ebuyer.com / scan.co.uk

P67 MotherBoard Option(s) :
Gigabyte UD4 : UD4
Asus Sabertooth P67 Rev3 : Sabertooth

Z68 Motherboard Option(s) :
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 : UD3

If anyone can help, please do. Really appreciate it.

Thanks
- Planty

Z68 ....

Public confidence in P67 is low because of the many problems "most" people are experiencing with their builds from new-to-pro builders alike. Even with the B3 fixed versions, some are still having quirks with their builds.

I am running an Asus Maximus IV Extreme P67 B3 and an Asrock P67 Fatality Professional B3 and never had a problem. To be fair, I'm running my 2600Ks @ stock and using discreet RAID controllers and discreet PCIe SATAs.

I've heard nothing but, good reviews so far with the Z68s. The ones that I know off who have had P67 problems had completely gone when they adopted to their Z68 counterparts.

Also, keep in mind that the P67s will be phased out to make way for the Z68s. There is also a rumor going around that the phasing out will be made to completion by the end of this year, at least for Gigabyte that I heard off!

Get the Z68 .... most especially if you don't have an 1155 mobo yet!

get z. z has cpu overclocking and cpu gpu to work, has some ssd stuff. like u got 500gb f3, get a ssd (fast one like c300 vertex 3 ,f4? then newer c300 ) click a options and uses ssd but still boot off f3, then your reads and writes ,load times all realy fast.

Some other stuff. but u are guarantee a b3 board

The Asus P8Z68-V Pro is a good choice for the Z68 platform. Otherwise, the P8P67 Pro is not a bad choice either.
