Not to mention i can buy several high quality titles with the money needed to buy all WOW expansions and then that monthly subscription.
Maybe the gameplay is good, but then again its an MMO, anyone say grinding grinding grinding?

actually since cata apparently it is way easier (i started in dec). Its fun (but not addicting i dont feel) and no so much grinding that it consumes your life like it apparently used to.

On topic, they still havent made it work with eyefinity, lame. Does look a little better single screen, and some performance boost with more gpu offloading

Period.

I'm amused that my HD5870 pushes FAR more FPS on NFS Shift than what a GTX590 does in WoW.

Much bigger complaints regarding wow than it's oldish graphics...

I suppose it is kind of interesting to see but none of the gamer cards had any real trouble playing the game at any resolution.

Well, I think the graphics look better than ever. I personally love the graphics. I also personally saw an enormous improvement going from an E8400 to the quad I run now. Of course like any WOW player that has been playing for a length of time, we use many addons. So a quad core DOES help the overall game play.

I love the trolls that have never seen the last xpac still talking about the game they saw years ago. The game continues to evolve, make millions of dollars and break records.

Another thing that everyone loves to over look, is the fact that the game was never intended to be a graphic powerhouse. The game was designed to allow everyone to play.

Rock on Blizzard!

Very true. My buddy still plays this game off his motherboard graphics, which he bought back in 2005. I wouldn't dare touch Rift with integrated graphics. (I own both)

The game does look tremendously better than it did 4 years ago. All of the old worlds have higher res textures now too.

Just remember there are two kinds of games. Games no one plays and games everyone complain about.

WOW is a huge success and will be for years to come, no matter how much people want to try to look down on it.

Yeah, and technically every game out there is using the Quake 1 engine. It's not the same.

WoW looks a lot better than other 2004 games due to its "cartoonish" style, and Blizzard certainly has done a lot to improve it, especially with high-res shadows, the new water, and of course the sunshafts. The game will never "stun" you, but looking out across the Barrens or Nagrand can still be quite beautiful. The fact that they care enough to upgrade the API shows some dedication as, as someone has already mentioned, they certainly didn't need to.
I think the cartoonish graphics are what gives it that charm... ultra realism in a fantasy game just kinda throws it off for me. I do feel some higher res characters could be in order, but the overall gameplay and feel is still amazing, and the new effects are great too.

BTW, is that DX9 to DX11 switching thing an Nvidia problem? Never once had an issue with my ATI. The only crash I get ever is if I'm bored and I fly sporadically through org and it has to constantly load new toons as I go back and forth lol. I guess I kinda deserve that for my ADHD with a flying mount lol

Really? Why bother? Because 12 million people still play the game, that's "why bother".

And the graphics are far from terrible. Actually they look great for such an old game engine and scale between a crummy integrated laptop card to a high end gpu/cpu.

I think you completely missed the point of this article, it's a nice piece and a look at a game tons of people still play across a plethora of hardware. If I were you I'd take that awful post down.
