[Xbit] Contemporary Graphics Cards in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm - Page 5

I can't help but laugh at all the people saying WoW is "grindy". They obviously played it up until max level and then didn't realize there was a whole other side of the game involved with raiding.

"grindy" is when you go out and pick herbs or something every day. Going into a raid dungeon with 9 or 24 other players and taking a few hours to try and down some hard raid bosses isn't "grindy". If it is, you can call EVERYTHING in this reality that involves a large amount of time "grindy".

lulz, some people get really up in arms when you get on their MMO.

A lot of times, the people bashing MMO's are the ones who spend equal amounts of time playing the same old, rehashed, multiplayer FPS deathmatches a'la MW... either that, or they are more fond of a different MMO entirely.

I was really looking for something like this since most of the mainstream reviews omit WoW.

Thanks .

And my 12year old PC already makes coffee for me every morning and walks my dog.

Half the game is DX9 and the other DX11 even when DX11 is turned on. The problem we have is that if you play at DX11 after a bit the game crashes the GPU, saying drivers not responding but recovered. This is because the GPU is stressed out too much switching between DX9 and DX11 thus crashing the card.

You can see loads of posts of forums regarding this, and even Nvidia has said its a problem with the way WoW is coded and they have to write drivers just for that.

I can't run DX11 on my GTX580 as after 2 hours it randomly crashes. The only difference is in water and some reflections as far as im aware of but the GPU switching API on the fly is causing problems!

P.S Ditto on Rift. The graphics on that game are not anything special either, infact go look at WAR Online. They are the same MMOs though dont need super high res graphics. It would make the world's unplayable. WoW looks good. I think it needs some high res character models
GTX470 never had any game crash in dx11. Longest would ~7hours playtime and i raid 3 times a week or ~4hours.
Rift animations are epic, epic fail. They couldn't even synchronize run speed with animation.

A lot of ppl who fail at simple "move left, in 20seconds move right" and get gkicked and pretty much are useless in any other way, do come back in game and complain in /trade or make 5-10 threads on mmo-champ on daily basis. QQ how terrible is game and for some reason they come back and back to off. website/forum or in-game to point that out :/

Anyhow, my setup (CPU is at 4ghz) does sometime dropd to 30FPS.
That takes: animations from encounter itself (void fields+breath) few shamans with totems, AoE heals all around and rest of animations from casters. However sham new totem is "bugged" if they don't use it i never get lower than 50fps.
Something similar when AoE from DK caused huge lag/crash o everyone around. Hope they'll fix it faster
Enjoy the game if you enjoy it or just rage quit and relieve us from reading your useless QQ about your failing.

P.S. Yeah i know i'll warning ,most likely, as they will feel offended now :/
