BF:BC2 issue?

I don't know if this is in the right section, but I've been having some problems. After about 4-5 minutes in multiplayer, the screens loose signal from the graphics card. I can still hear the game running and I'm still in control but it's like the ports crap out on me. This happens in SP, although it takes a lot longer for it to happen.

The weird thing is, it only happens in this game. I've tried to get it to happen in LFD2, Portal 2, and even Crysis. I figured if it was a bad OC it would have shown in those games as well. And that also lowers the likelihood that the card itself is defective. I've tried lowering clocks on my CPU and GPU, a handful of older drivers, and updating punkbuster manually and nothing seems to do the trick.

Am I the only one with this issue?

I had this exact problem with bad drivers.

Are you on 11.5 (Last one IIRC)

Bad drivers or bad overclock. BC2 is particular about these things. Try reinstalling the drivers and if this fails, try reverting back to the previous version.

I'm on 11.5a now, but I did try 11.5 and had the same problem.

I get seldom flickering in BC2, but no other game. I swear man, if there's one issue that's fixed with a driver version, another one pops up with this game.

I bet you're using Precision or Afterburner eh? There is a known problem (by the community that is) that Punkbuster doesn't play nice with these apps. If you're using afterburner, this thread should help.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to go back a little farther.

I did that work around and got pretty excited because I thought maybe it would have changed the filename back after updating to the new AB beta. But unfortunately, it's still changed. I just tried the game again with AB shut down and the same thing happens.

Hmm..are you using any other monitoring software? If so, try running without any (assuming your temps don't need constant monitoring).

This could also be due to the newest Punkbuster update. From what I've read, apparently PB now scans low level GPU registers to check for modded drivers or something of that nature. This is what causes the Afterburner issues. In addition, this temporarily freezes some cards that aren't running any monitoring software. It doesn't seem like a stretch to assume it might be crashing your game. Try playing on a non-PB server and see if you still crash out.
