Xonar or Creative? - Page 2

its not about the DG being 5.1 , but it`s the PCI
even if it was 30$ what he will do with it if he upgraded into 2GPUs and got no PCI left and i`m sure you know that the Future is now for the PCIe

so in other words the DG will serve him well but not for long time

Mate - you have some options here.

Refurbished:
Xonar DS $39 shipped (ebay) (I purchased one myself)
Xonar DX $55 shipped (ebay)

I strongly recommend not to go with STX unless you have headphones that will benefit from the built-in AMP.

Save yourself some cash and be happy.

Bad argument at best, IMO. Most boards are made in a way that even if you have all the PCI-E X16 slots filled, at least a single PCI slot remains available. And PCI isn't going away from motherboards anytime soon. There's just too many peripherals available for it for manufacturers to phase it out of their boards.

The ASUS Xonar DG is an amazing bang-for-buck. The difference between it and onboard is MUCH higher than the difference between it and more expensive sound cards.

I honestly don't believe that at all. It will be a long time before PCI gets phased out. Not to mention most SLI/XFire motherboards have room for both. Mine can run SLI/Xfire along with a PCI card no problem. And since I'm watercooling I could actually have two PCI cards and two GPUs.

dear VW_TDI_02 and LOL_Wut_Axel
i completely agree with you both , but i`m just clearing things to him
he did`nt post his system yet nor the budget so i`m just doing that incase he might confront this issue as many people did (the full PCI) and that's it

but again thank you both

ok, so i thought that if i said stay below 100 dollars aka "a Bill" that would constitute as a budget. Im looking to spend a max of 100 on the card. The phones, Ive been eying the Samson SR850 but I do love my Dubstep so I dont know about the bass you know?
The throat Mics are because I play BF: BC2 and use TeamSpeak and can not afford to have the battle sounds permeate the chatter over TeamSpeak.

hmmmmmm i dont know if you noticed that in Simca`s List but he said:

(BEWARE: Do not expect exceptional BC2 sound from the Xonar DX. If you at all play BC2 on a regular basis, you should avoid this card as it won't give you the positional cues you're looking for. If you're playing virtually ANY OTHER GAME besides BC2 you'll love this card. It's excellent for Call of Duty. It's excellent for RPGs and Racers. In fact, it'll do RPGs and racers better than the Creative cards. Music DOES sound better on the DX than pretty much every creative card on the market.
If you absolutely must play BC2, again, you're looking at the Creative Titanium unless you can somehow score a Forte in this price range)

so maybe we should reconsider the Creative X-Fi Titanium or if things aren't the same with other Xonars maybe going back to the DG

So, is the X-Fi Titanium better than the Xonar ST?
I love BC2 and am going to be getting BF3 but love my Dubstep too.

If you want a Creative card with the same Audio fidelity as the ST then the Titanium HD is that CARD. Retails for around $154.99 USD

You can buy the Titanium HD and simply swap the OpAmps of the card to accomodate your musical tastes.

I have the card and I bought two National LME49720NA OpAmps to replace the JRC's and I really enjoy the signature of the Titanium HD over the stock ones.

Best $8.00 I spent on a sound card "accessory" yet.
