Cant get video on new build???

Thread Starter
Edit: So the 2nd and third picture so the system set up and on. I can not understand why I get no video.

I tried the video card first the both DVI and VGA ports onboard. Am I doing something wrong. The hard drive is totally empty brand new.

I have the board shown and want to test this new rig for my son but realized with no case I have no idea how to start the thing. I don't want to risk shorting something out.

Is there a safe way to do it??

Also that pink stuff under the board is foam. Is it safe to leave the board on that when it is on??

There should be on the motherboard a pwrswitch+- thing it's around the other things like case speaker etc.
Bottom right corner?
Take a screwdriver and short it out so it turns on.
I'd take off the foam.
Even antistatic wrap is conductive.

The Foam is to protect the MB from the case and i would remove it before u install the MB to the case. And yes you can test the MB out of the case just hook up all the wires and set it on a carbord box or somthing. Good luck

Just find the leads on the motherboard for power (should be bottom right hand side of the board) Check your mobo manual for the exact pins, and just short them with a screwdriver

And Just lay the board right on that wood desk or cardboard or something of the sort.

That cluster of multi colored pin headers in the bottom right of that picture are what you are looking for. Find the two labeled pwr and connect them. Not permantly though.

The 2 red pins in the bottom right are labled "on/off". Is that it??

edit: wait its actually for the 2 black pins behind the red pins

Then there are 4 yellow pins beside the "on/off" black pins that are labeled "+ +power-LED"

*** worse bit of advice i have ever seen!

the foam causes anti static electricity which can cause alot of harm! you better off just resting the motherboard on the wooden table the using foam..

as for switching the computer on like people said use a screwdriver to bridge the switch connection.. try to avoid using a magnetic screwdrive if you can help it
