Crucial M4 128GB or OCZ Agility 3?

Thread Starter
I recently asked if I should go for a Crucial M4 or a Vertex 3 and most people suggested I go for the M4 instead because it's quite a bit cheaper, more reliable brand and that I would not notice much real term difference (in fact I was told the the M4 performs faster in 4K random reads which is what matters most).

I have now seen the Agility 3 is out. Given that the M4 and Agility 3 are very similarly priced which one would you go for? Or are there any other suggestions?!

Agility 3:
Max Read: up to 525MB/s
Max Write: up to 500MB/s
Random Write 4KB (Aligned): 50,000 IOPS

Crucial M4:
Sequential Read (up to): 415MB/sec (SATA 6Gb/s)
- Sequential Write (up to): 175MB/sec (SATA 6Gb/s)
- Random 4k Read: 40,000 IOPS
- Random 4k Write: 35,000 IOPS

do you know the 4kb read for the agility? even when the write says 50,000 IOPS they read could be much lower.

I actually just bought a 64gb m4 on newegg yesterday (haven't received it yet) but the agi3 was one of my other options when looking around. After reading reviews and customer comments I decided to go with the m4. From what I've read its one of the best ssd's in terms of actually performing up to its advertised speeds. Good luck with your decision!

I'm not sure about the read speed. I'm still inclined to go for the M4 as everyone seems to say it performs superb in real terms.

The Corsair Force 3 has been announced for release and it has some superb stats at a decent price. I'm just waiting to see a review and if it performs better than the M4 I will probably go for the Force 3.

There is the question of reliability as Crucial are known to be very reliable. Corsair are known to have good RMA but that's not the same thing (I'm sure someone here can inform how reliable Corsair are?). Any updates on performance of the Force 3 then please do let me know.

Thanks

i just got an agility 3 yesterday, On the box it says
4kb random write aligned: iometer 2008: 50,000iops

I think its a great drive, the write speeds of the m4 just put me off frown.gif
