Nook Color or iPod Touch 4G

So I just sold my ZuneHD for $130 and have a total of $417. I'll be buying a XFX 5850 for $190 and get $40 back in a rebate plus Shogun 2 Now I come to you asking weather I should buy a used iPod Touch 4G or a used Nook Color? I have a fair amount of iPod Touch apps from before the Zune but I only need something that will let me text on it occasionally, has some ok games, email on and can watch movies on. Both of these things do that but I want your opinion on the matter. Please keep it civil and provide what experiences you have had with these items. I'm kinda leaning toward the Nook simply because of the expandability with SD cards.

Depends really, are you fine with the nook being much bigger than the ipod (you won't be carrying it in your pocket) and you have to be ready to hack it if you are going to go that route. If you want something that will just work and you can carry anywhere, well, the ipod is the obvious choice.

Yea I don't really care about carrying it around in the pocket all that much. And the nook just got that app store as well so it has some stuff to do things like that now right? And I could always just root it to Honeycomb if I want to new and different. But the iPod is one that I have apps for and stuff like TV shows for it. It's just so expensive for something I can't even expand but has a pretty good camera and support structure.

You should check out xda-developers.com check out their section on the nook color. They rooted it, have full froyo on their and I'm pretty sure they have cyanogen mod 7. I don't know if they have a full working image of honeycomb there but I know they did have the preview editions working. Hell they even overclocked it

Does anyone have experience with both of these items? I would really like to hear how people like them, what they find lacking, where they excel, things like that.

If you can root, the Nook Color is definitely the best choice. Its bang-for-buck is unprecedented, then.

I despise the iPod touch. I had a 2nd Gen (bought) and a 4th gen (gift) and I hated them both. iOS is junk if you ask me. No flash support, no off page rendering, etc.

I sold the 4th gen 3 days after I got it as a present for only $30 less than the regular price.

My dad also got me an iPhone 4 which I was forced to use for 6 months, and those 6 months were a living hell. I didn't have any other phone to use since my last one was stolen (Ah, America!).

I gave the iPhone to my dad when his phone stopped working and he bought me the HTC Inspire 4G running Android. I instantly fell in love and I still love it very much to this day.

I would say Nook Color, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, simply because you can run Android on it and it is pretty neat even without Android, while the iOS devices are all a piece of -infraction-.

I've used them both, I love the screen on the nook color, it was ridiculous, the colors on it were great. Also the touchscreen itself was very sensitive. Other than that the only issue I had with the nook color was that it couldn't play my One Piece Episodes on it (format issues). Other than that, both devices were awesome, they both had a great market for applications, I really couldn't choose between the two.

Formats are rom related... thats why I had to switch to CM7 on my desire, needed FLAC support

I say the nook if you are fine with it being a tablet and are ready to do some hacking to get it running at a suitable level (if its like any android phone it needs hacking to run well).

How difficult is rooting the nook? I've seen someone put the Honeycomb preview on it but it had no sound as a issue of it only being a preview and there are so many different roms for android. I've never really used android other than downloading the emulator to see what it was like and I liked it a little bit because it was something different and I love just fiddling with things to see how they work. And are there specific roms that work best for certain items like one is better for a phone and one is better for the tablet. I know that Honeycomb is a real tablet friendly version of android from playing with a Xoom in Best Buy.
