At a bit of a loss.

Thread Starter
So I got my new case in the mail today and put everything together. When I try to boot up I got a couple of errors that were simple to correct. Bad cable for HDD, and a cpu fan error. Well I noticed that when I turned everything on the red leds on my mobo started flickering. Held steady for a moment, then they started blinking.

After I fixed those problems I went to let it just boot up and...it won't post. I've checked all my connections and nothing seems to be out of place. Anybody have any idea what could be going on? Thanks in advance.

Also, the new case is a Fractal Define XL, if that helps.

It does not help, but do you like the case?

Make sure your 24 pin connector is in tight as well as your 8 pin and video card pins. If they are tight unplug the 8 pin and make sure you did not plug in a video card 8 pin into the processor 8 pin plug.

Also, did you install the motherboard with risers? having all those soldered connections grounding out against the back of the case would be...... unfortunate?

So far the case seems nice...though I'm starting to think it may have brought me bad luck.

I checked the 24 and 8 pin connectors again and they're in the right spots and seated. Also, I did put in the risers before I installed the mobo.

Now something new is happening. When I turn it on now the red light just burns steady and nothing happens at all. Not even the monitors come up. ...I really hope I haven't killed my motherboard somehow.

Did you route any wiring behind the Motherboard? I would think something is shorting out behind there. Also, did you re-seat the processor and HSF during the process? It might be wise to check that connection to make sure it did not get bumped during install.

Well, I looked at everything again and I can't find anything causing it to short. Also, disregard the post about the steady burning red, a cable just fell out and I didn't notice it at first. I checked the cpu and it's seated fine. The only thing I can see is that I can't get my cooler to seat perfectly. It's still making contact, but it's ever so slightly loose. Could this be whats causing all the error lights to come on?

Well, from what I can tell it seems that it -is- the cooler that's causing it not to post. I just can't get it to stay on there reliably. Anybody had problems with the h50?

I've seen issues with AMD boards and the H50 with it not being tight enough or it hitting capacitors.. I'll do a quick search and edit this post with the links if I find em

EDIT: I cannot find the post.. It's in the Official H50/H70 club..

They had pictures of the heatsink not clearing the mosfets/capacitors around the socket, even denting some of them after they tightened it not knowing there was blockage.
