Asus P8p67-EVO (audio) vs sound card?

Would a sound card be needed with this particular mobo. I remember reading somewhere that the audio was relatively decent on these boards.

Putting my build together this weekend and wondering whether I should grab a Xonar DS or stick with the onboard sound. Believe this particular assus mobo and the deluxe have a better audio chip then some other models. But dont know.

Use the audio for games and music only. Nothing major.

Sound cards will always be better than onboard, but whether you can tell the difference or not will depend on your speakers/headphones and your audiophilicity.

What are you doing with it? headphones or digital out to receiver?

Totally different answers for either of those scenarios

I have the p8p67 pro pro, and I noticed a huge difference in all aspects when I upgraded to a sound card. Wouldn't go back to onboard if you paid me.

no headphones... just plugging it into some harmon kardon speakers with a sub.
