Overclocking C2D

Thread Starter
Hey guys,
Trying to get my e6600 past 3ghz. Changing my FSB in the BIOS, I currently have it at 335. Earlier I tried it at 336 I assume. Right now its at 1340 in the BIOS and I had it at 1345 earlier. When I had it there, the system would boot but it would restart itself after about 5 minutes or so. Immediately set it to 335 and have had no problems.

What do you guys think? Current idle temp is 36 degrees celsius, load around 56. Mobo is an MSI P6N SLI Platinum. I'm also unaware of how to raise the voltage in the bios. It has the option to but it wont let me.

Thanks!

Push the plus sign on the keyboard to raise and the minus sign to lower the voltage when in bios

2thAche, is there an easy way to do that?

I just tried it with the fsb at 350, which took it to 3.15ghz. Vcore was about 1.352, I increased it by .0250 i believe. Stayed on for about 3 minutes then restarted.

take a photo of the bios?

you are getting the hang of it.
but there is slightly more to it.
you may also have to increase the NB voltage as well, especially if you have 4 sticks of ram.
also what other voltage options have you?
and what speed is your ram? for now unlink it, so it stays at stock speed

increase it by another .0250, or even 0.500, the E6600 is fine upto 1.5v (vcore)

The issue you are probably running into is RAM speed increasing with the higher fsb. Check the RAM multi and set it to 2x or 1:1, or 2D to eliminate the RAM as the problem.
