Dual monitor support?

So I was just gifted a 5870 and installed the latest drivers only to find out that the dual display support on them is total trash. Can't run a fullscreen app or play a game on the main monitor without everything on the 2nd monitor locking up or crashing.

Anyone else have this problem and know a fix?

I also have this problem and I've "fixed" it by adding a 2MB PCI S3Virge card I had in a closet for the second monitor. I've read that cards (4850/5850 in my case) don't like 2D apps on one screen and 3D apps on another due to some clock speed / driver conflicts. I can play a 3D game on one screen, have Winamp & IM on the secondary, but when I click on the secondary monitor the game is minimized, unless I use a second card to take care of the second monitor. I'm not sure, but this could be a Windows limitation and not something AMD can solve.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly, all of my PCI slots are taken up so that's not really a valid option for me.

Also I'm pretty sure it's AMD/ATI only as my previous Nvidia 560 card worked flawlessly with dual display.

Anyone have any other ideas? I'm feeling hopeless here about to just ebay it and buy another Nvidia card.
