Could also very easily be the explanation as well. Higher temperatures will mean that you'll be more likely to have stability issues, even with the same voltages.

Nope, not really. The Sandy Bridge chips can SUPPOSEDLY take up to 1.52v safely. I won't personally run mine THAT hard until I have water cooling or better though.

I thought it was 1.46v for 24/7 use, and in due time degradation would follow.

Was there a new release of information recently? If so, I need to redo my overclock then. Last I heard (was a few months ago now), they were fine to 1.52v. But that was when the B3 revision boards were just starting to show up in full though.

I really don't think its the temperatures. They've never gotten over 60c normal use (it's under water) or folding. So I don't think thats the problem.

About degrading.. Yes, its way to early. Maybe it wasn't stable after all.

I ran p95 blended, not custom.

IMHO
if I had SB I wouldn't take it over 1.4v

IIRC 1.45 is where 45nm intel chips start frying/degrading fast.....now if you apply that logic to SB.......

just a little logic....unless intel has some magical new transistors or some other method/measure to combat electromigration....

Oh no, don't quote me on anything. That's just what I've read and heard. Anywhere between 1.46v > 1.47v being the "maximum" safe voltage for a 24/7 SB overclock, however, in due time degradation will follow.

The difficult thing about SB is it's still very new, and not everyone knows everything about it quite yet. Another thing is people will call up Intel and speak to a representative and they'll ask "What's the maximum safe voltage on SB for a 24/7 overclock?". And they'll give you an answer. Well see, a lot of people are saying "Well, they're a representative reading off of a piece of paper or reading off of their computer, so what do they know about the true maximum safe voltage, so we should take their advice with a grain of salt".

Personally, going over 1.4v would scare the hell out of me. 4.5Ghz @ 1.35v is perfect for me, even if 5Ghz is a huge e-peen booster.

The intel specs say this CPU is ok up to 1.5 Vcore so I doubt you would have damaged your chip if you were only around 1.42 for a month or so.

I just don't understand that it suddenly does BSOD.

It didn't for that 12 hours and other stress test, and I folded for some time aswell..

Instability is instability, my friend. Like I said, my 2600k ran on 1.26v for two weeks and then couldn't do it anymore. Had to bump it to 1.35v for maximum stability so far.

Also of note is that different folding units can cause instability, you can fold some fine with lower voltage, however others require more to do the same.
