Advice, keep going with zotac gtx 580 amp2 or wait for msi gtx 580 3gb

Hi again,

I need some advice for this situation. I have ordered two zotac gtx 580 amp2 3gb to use in SLI as I said before, I haven't received them so I am on time in case of change, should I wait for the msi gtx 580 lightning 3gb that will come next month I think, or keep going with the zotac.

Thanks and regards

both good cards. I would personally wait for TFIII xtreme ~ it looks like a beast

If you don't mind the 6990's a 6990 + 6970 will perform better than gtx 580 sli
for a simmilar price too.

I would normally agree with this, but the 6990 cooler has been known to be quite loud. So I would suggest either two or three non-reference 6950s (but unlock them - such as TFII or TFIII or DCUII)

mind you, the TFIII gtx 580 has been 1ghz quite easily from what I've read. At those speeds, it will absolutely destroy any games

Ok, I think I would prefer going with Nvidia but I will think about the option 6990+6970 and try to find some reviews or something.
Does anybody knows the specs of the msi gtx 580 3gb?

Hey,
I'm in the same boat as you, haven't ordered anything yet. Since I'll be gaming at 2560*1600, I was considering two Zotacs but now that I've heard about the MSI Lightning Xtreme Edition, I'm gonna wait for them. HOWEVER, I believe the Zotacs are good so I would keep them if I were you. The MSI should be a little more factory overclocked, nothing you can't do yourself

The thing is that the I will have the Zotac by the end of next week more or less, and I don't know when the msi cards will be launched to the market, maybe in almost two months will be available?
So I don't know what to do, I have heard that the zotac ones overclock pretty well.

I don't think MSI is releasing a 3GB 580 Lightning! They probably will do a 3GB version though.

There would be ABSOLUTELY no point in releasing a new GTX580 if it wasn't for more VRAM. I COULD be wrong but it's very unlikely people would change their GTX580 just for a new cooler paint job and faster stock clocks. The only thing the GTX580 is lacking is VRAM when gaming at high resolution.
