Advice, keep going with zotac gtx 580 amp2 or wait for msi gtx 580 3gb - Page 2

The MSI ones are meant to be released within a month. If you can wait, then wait and then decide before you have a possible regret. I know its hard to wait though lol. Im upgrading to two of these beasts myself and am gonna wait and see what the MSI's are like.

Do you think this info about the msi gtx 580 3gb is true?
or maybe is like a rumour or something, who knows,
I am going to try to wait, but the problem is that I have all the other componentes except the graphic cards.
Do you think the performance will be similar to the zotacs one?

Most likely yes.
They aren't going to reinvent the cards.
Maybe they will get them a few % higher. But just a few.
For gaming, you will see a few extra FPS. Not something you are going to see as a big difference on a single monitor.

Yes. The ARES is going to be costly though, If it checks in under $1200 I'll be shocked. $1400 is perfectly possible. If it's new and labeled ARES, if you've got the money, chances are you're not beating it's performance at that price. At the moment it appears the 595 will be 2 extreme-clocked 3GB 580s on once PCB.

Thank you very much.
I think I am going to wait until the msi 3gb cards or the asus ares gtx 595 comes out
And then decide carefully.

Get the MSI.

Don't think about it. Plus I heard the Zotac Amps draw an ungodly amount of power for no damn reason. I know someone posted it on here. Just wait and go MSI.

Thanks and regards
I've heard the MSI GTX 580 3GB version is coming out soon. The card would be released on Computex 2011 event next month.

As for the 6990+6970 setup, you'll need to deal with a DUAL BIOS and though it will be better performance for less money it will equal greater headache in my opinion.

The 6990 is two 2GB cards mirrored for total of 6GB and the GTX 580 is 3GB for total of 6GB. GTX 580 3GB in SLI wins here for VRM handling higher resolution.

There's also no benchmarks yet that compare the two different set ups in high resolution running multiple monitors yet. No proof which is better.

At anything less than 1920x1200 the AMD 6990+6970 set up will still win because higher VRM dosen't mean anything at that lower resolution.

Those GTX 580 3GB cards will run high resolution easily with multiple monitors. Give you the option of better 3D gaming and 3D movies if you choose to go down that route. Physx for those few games and CUDA for folding if you so choose.

So if you can wait, then why not? In my opinion the MSI Lightning 3GB version will be better than the Zotac, in qaulity and over clockability.
