External LaCie 2TB HDD transfer problem.

Hello Everyone

I have this 1.5TB Samsung Story Station external HDD which is completely full with mov... I mean, 'family pictures'... and as I recently let it drop, I feared for its condition (albeit still very functioning) so a reason more to buy another HDD.

Besides the fact that the salesman cut me an amazing deal on this LaCie 2TB HDD due to circumstances, I came home home and unpacked it, starting transfering everything. As I decided to use the new drive as a purely storing drive, only touching it when I need something I've already used and using my old 1.5TB as more accessible drive. That way, I'm sure my collection is always safe.

I never like transferring huge files, and when I do I always check its condition afterwards.

Now I have almost transferred everything (due to the size, I'm not able to check every file)
After some random checking of files I thought everything was ok.

Luckily I haven't yet deleted everything from the old drive. Because today when listening to a ripped cd.... 'which I own and have ripped for home use and entertainment with no commercial goals in mind, nor sharing with third parties'... about the 5th song halfway there was a scratching sound. The song played perfectly and didn't say 'can't play due to corruption' or anything, it only started scratching for 5 seconds halfway the song.

This Sucks!!! Especially because on the drive from the old drive it was copied, it didn't have this!!!

Now I am sure there are corrupt files present due to the copying, and I can't locate them because the files play. It would be impossible for me to check as well, because how on earth can I go through all my songs and mov....I mean 'family pictures' to check corruption.

Anyone any tips on how to check for abnormalities in a copy of a file, or tips on how to safely copy files in general?

Kind regards
your fanatic family photographer.
