Memory won't even run at rated speeds :(

Well, I finally got my TA890FXE board from Frys yesterday and spent all day overclocking every single piece of my sig rig. Found out that my processor unlocks to a very sexy quad. It even runs at 4Ghz no prob. Video card is a beast on its own. But the memory made me mad though.

It is rated at 7-8-7-24-2T at 1.6. Right now as you can see I have it at CAS8 because every time I drop it down the mobo wouldn't post. I've tried increasing voltage to 1.65 with no luck. Is it me? Does my memory hate me? From what I have been reading, memory is dependent on the NB-CPU correct? If so then at 2.8Ghz, my memory shouldn't be dying.

Any help would be a appreciated

You sure it didn't default to 1T when you installed it?

I tried both 1 and 2T with no luck

This board doesn't like PSC ICs like most G.Skill Ripjaws. I think this you're the second I've seen on this board + PSC ICs and latencies don't go below 8; in many previous issues I have faced PSC RAM + this board had even more serious problems. They might have been fixed a bit more with BIOS updates since then.

So do you think I should drop the speed down to 1333, CAS7 (7-7-7-21)?

1333 @ CL7 will only equal the memory performance of 1600 @ CL9. Memory performance degrading takes a slightly more steep drop when speeds are lower than 1600Mhz. Therefore lower timings at this speed may not as easily equal the higher speed at the same (or higher) timings.

Welcome to the club.
None of the modules i ve bought in the last 3 years is able to do for real the label specs.
