XBMC all the way IMO. Like somebody else said either setup a little server with all the data on it or turn one of the HTPC's into the server. I use my HTPC/torrent box/NAS/whatever as a backup with some data still on my main rig but soon I'm going to put everything on the HTPC on 2 mirrored drives.

XBMC all the way man, plus

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=90682

manage all your movie meta data, covers, fan art, discriptions, cast , crew directors, ratings, does the same for tv shows

also just to name off a couple of things that you can do with XBMC

officially supported android and i think iphone app that acts as a remote control
moviesets- group trilogies and such together instead of having them list all over your screen
season support for tv shows with multiple seasons
skins
apps
LAUNCHER-----run you emulators directly from within XBMC
much more

it is just IMO the KING of media center front ends
