Possible to mod x580 fans to turn off at idle? - Page 2

It pretty easy actually, there are several guides here to do it. You can even flash in Windows if you want.
Fully customize the BIOS and set a profile in AB ans see how it go's.

Well my 460 i used nibitor to mod the bios then flashed with NVflash. That's the only way I know of really! And it's pretty straightforward. So I was just wondering what else he meant by flash bios old fashioned way.
I will mod it when it arrives and report how the xtreme plus performs passive or semi passive.

Yep, that is the easiest way I have seen. Good luck

NiBiTor typically won't let you set the fan speed minimum to 0, that's why I said actually doing that is complicated, it won't be using NiBiTor.

Downloaded an x580 bios for sample.
Does this not save and set the bios @ 0%?
This is exactly how i modded my 460 if i remember correctly. Used Nvflash to save bios, rebooted, modded fan speed in NiBiTor then rebooted and flashed.

Oh, if it lets you save it at 0%, it'll definitely allow the fans to stop. I've just seen it a few times where it wouldn't let it below 10%. You yourself said your 460 wouldn't go below 15%.

Yes I can't remember exactly how i did it now but I think I set it to 0 saved and when I booted up afterburner only recognized it as default 40%.
Tried few more settings and 15% was the only way it recognized in afterburner after startup.
So I wonder if there's even software that could control the vga pwm down to 0%.

Okay so alternatively, is there way to hook up vga pwm cables to 4 pin vwm? I'll give you rep and love you forever if there is a way to do this and hook up the vga cable to a fan controller.
