Which card can max games (by my standards) - Page 2

2-3 years from now ? Anything from HD6950 and above should do it but no card will max games for 3 years straight. Even the GTX 590 will have a hard time keeping up with games in 2014.

Having used both a 570 and 580 I could not tell the diff in games at 1080p. Both work great. You can however tell a diff between a 560 and 570, more than benches show. I came from a 5870 2gb EF6 card, it is about on par but a little better than a single 560. I think the 570 is the best overall high end card considering value ATM. I fully admit I have not tried the 6950/70. I did try the 6870 in single and CF.

Otherwise 2 460's in SLI still kill games. You dont get the newest card bragging rights but they still do great.

I'm looking to buy something now and something later (to SLI), but I am on a pretty tight budget right now. I'm thinking about an ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/768MD5 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 768MB 192-bit for $119. Thoughts? I understand it does PhysX and SLI and DX11.

Thoughts on buying this now and then maybe a 570 or 580 later in the year when prices drop?

Get a GTX 580 3GB now since that will be more than enough for 1080p and then buy another one in a year or so for SLI and you'll be set for another year or two. Thats probably you're best bet.

umm, the GTX 580 is $500. The 768 MB 460 is $100 or under.
