Some help with barbs, pump and res for car rad??

Hi,
planning on using my old car radiator (im doing an engine swap so the old rad is far to small).
At a guess the rad is about 400x300x90mm,
so ill probably need a pretty large pump? but i dont want to much noise,

Im not sure about barb sizing and also tube sizes,

just looking to cool the i7 but might add the 295s in aswell.

Ill need a pump/res, barbs, tubing, and a block,
also the inlet and oulet on the rad are about 30mm,
so ill need to make something up i can braze and also weld.

Why not get an RX360 there probably some at the marketplace save you some hassle! How about using two Laing D5 pumps?

Not sure how many blocks you are pushing or if you picked up a res. yet, but with the koolance dual bay res and (2) D5 pumps (serial setup) I measure 2.1gpm (7.9 lpm) through my loop. Cools the cpu and 3 gpus very nicely.

im only going to be cooling my i7 for now but might add the cards in later.

I ran a fully watercooled Rampage with a GTZ on a qx9650@4.0 and an EK HF cooling a 920@4.1 on a single d5 and pa120.3. As this is a bit of a trial I would say try one pump first then get another if you need to.(very doubtful)

If you fill rad and put top hose into a bucket full of water then with pump attached to bottom hose switch on and measure the flow into another bucket you will get an idea of how restrictive the rad is...my guess is it will not be vastly different to a 360 or 480 rad.

A good source of reducers is found in plumbing stores here so getting a 28mm to 15mm copper reducer and attaching it to the rad using automotive silicone hose (pick a color) and worm drives would work. attaching 1/2" hose after that is simple or if you wanted your loop could have longer 1" runs with the adapter nearer the blocks.

ahh ok its not to big but its pretty large compared with a 480 XD.

I have some sickaflex aswell which will seal up nicely.

It may be larger but I would guess it is single pass too (inlet and outlet at opposite ends) so, many short parallel paths through could mean less flow resistance than a 480

inlet and outlet are on the same end at top and bottom :L.

it uses bigger pipes though etc so i guess the flow will stay quite quick hopefully.

Im considering buying a 240mm rad kit then using the rad in my server, and the other bits for this.
