System complete? or should I add/upgrade something else?

Hey everyone, my 2nd thread here. I listed my system specs in the User CP section.

I finished building my system about a month ago, and listed below is where it is at currently. I "dummy proof" overclocked my processor through the Asus Turbo Key feature to 3.79GHz.

I like to game (starcraft/borderlands... Crysis 2 is in the pkg still until i finish borderlands), do some surfing and word stuff.. i daddle in photoshop as I have a nikon D90 that I use on my now 1yr old daughter.

I'm open to suggestions on what to upgrade or add to my current build... I'd really appreciate any advice that you guys have as I don't know that much about this stuff anymore. I just know how to build a PC.. thats about it.

I thought about getting the new PCI-E SSD from OCZ.. Revo? i think.. I currently have a OCZ Vertex2 60GB, but it only has 10GB left of space and I still need to install Photoshop elements 9 and MS Office..

I also considered adding another 8GB of ram.. not sure if its necessary tho.

U have a very solid system. Those PCI E cards run super fast but have lots of issues. I choose not to get one for that reason. If im correct the Asus Turbo key is like my OC Genie for my MSI mobo. Its not a good idea to OC using that feature. Try going into the bios and OC through that.

That is a pretty solid system for what you listed, 8gb of ram should be enough to play with Photoshop just fine. Unless you plan to open loads of huge images (like 30+), then it might become a little barrier.

It is pretty well rounded machine though, you only need to upgrade if it isn't working as fast as you like haha.

Depending how much you like your sound, dedicated sound card could be a nice upgrade though.

Great tips guys! I'll try to O.C. through the BIOS, I think my board had the option to do so at start up.. I did feel the turbo key application seemed a little bit finicky.

Would a dedicated sound card help my audio? my speakers are only a 2.0 (Bose Companion series).. so no 7.1 and all that jazz..

IMO Unless you're an audiophile sound cards don't really add too much sound quality. I am a musician myself and although I don't really care for quality too much it is nice to have. ie. There is a difference between 128 kbps playback on onboard soundcard vs 320 kbps playback on say a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy. The question is whether or not you want to drop $50 (or up to like $200) for it or if you really care.

Personally although I do notice the differences it's not like onboard sound is super crippled or sucks (like onboard graphics).

OC through BIOS and yeah you have enough RAM. I'm pretty sure that unless you're running virtual servers or something 8GB will be plenty for now. Personally I'm still running 4GB but my next workstation rig will probably have 8GB (or if I decide to get a blade server or something probably like 32GB of RAM).
