Cpu Temps and Core Temps

Thread Starter
Hi guy's first off sorry to bother you all, i was just looking at my temps today and noticed a difference between core temps, core 0 and core 1, i have replaced the E5300 2.60Ghz cpu and heatsink plus fan as my frined is comp engineer and uses intel parts so its pretty cool lol, and she is still reading same temps, i just can't remember if the cpu temp was lower than 40c at idle for some reason i just can't get the cpu any lower than 40c even with the fan speed increased from 1140 to 2100RPM, im also worried that she is running to hot under stress, i have uploaded 2 pics below for you guys to check out the top one is underload with prime 95 and the bottom pic is at idle
cheers guy's

Have you tried CoreTemp instead of HWMointor?
I know on my old E5200, I kept getting different temps between HWMonitor, CoreTemp, RealTemp etc.
CoreTemp was the only one giving me the correct temps.

CPU's temperatures are calculated, not measured

wow fast response on here
mbudden
core temp still reads the same

qqislarge
im guessing its calculated via the cores? or am i wrong. my computer knowledge is extremely poor sorry. im worried that my cpu is going to fry with the temps running 40c at idle i would have thought they run cooler and 56 under stress

Interesting.
I guess just one core runs hotter than the other.
That does happen. Doesn't mean something is necessarily wrong.

Idle temperatures are very inaccurate and you shouldn't bother with them at all (unless they are ridiculously high). That's the way the thermal sensors were designed.

The temp difference between cores is also common and again, it's nothing to worry about unless it is huge (like 15+ degrees at load)

as above, dont go by idle temps.
download prime95 (google it) and run the blend test.
now see what your temps are.
max temp is 70.C
its not unusual to have slightly different temps.
on my quad Q6600 i have 29.28.25.32

also it may be just a stuck sensor, also quite common.

try using realtemp (google it). it has a cool down test, to test for a stuck sensor
