GTX580 Lightning crashes

Thread Starter
I just put in a new MSI GTX580 Lightning, and it worked fine except for a weird hiccup in Starcraft.

Since then, I've been experiencing random power downs. I'm running a brand new Corsair HX850, so its not a power issue, and the card never tops 65c so its not heat either.

I'm downloading the 266.58 drivers right now to replace the 270 I'm currently running to see if that helps, but I'd like to try and get some feedback onthis.
Now it crashes either right before or shortly after getting into windows.

Were you running MSI Afterburner? If it occurs with the change of drivers, try playing SC2 with AB disabled.

so after u switch the new driver , does it crash again?

Yes I was, but everything was at stock.

I actually dont know, now the thing reboots right after I get into windows.

EDIT: I'm putting the 280 I had beforehand back in and am letting it run. But I have to leave. I'll see if it crashes in the few hours I'm gone.

If it does, does that mean I somehow managed to get a bad premium part?

Okay so after leaving the 280 in to run for about 2 hours, it seems to be perfectly fine.

Which leads me to believe that I do indeed have a bad card?

sounds more like driver confilts. if it was a bad card you woul dhave problems regardless of what version driver your running.

Install your GTX 280, boot to windows and download driver sweeper and install it. Uninstall all your display drivers from control panel, then reboot to safe mode, run driver sweeper and remove any display drivers. Shutdown and remove GTX 280 and install GTX 580 then boot to windows and install your drivers.

If you still have a problem, then it's the card not the drivers.
