Shub: I was looking at the SeaSonic models on Newegg.ca and saw a couple along with Corsair ones that were all pretty highly rated, though there isn't a feature to select decibel rating of the fan on it unfortunately. But I am not sure if the models you suggested were in my search options. I'd prefer modular as well, I am not a big fan of the single cable with tons of wires inside it
modular goes for around 30usd more normally. But there won't be much hanging around with the antec 520w which is the same as the Seasonic 520w.

Your cheapest modular option would be the XFX XXX Edition 650W. It's a lot more wattage than you need but it's cheap and it's a good one.

bought this off of frys for $75 i believe. is it really that bad? it seems pretty good looking from the cables, packaging, and the wattage posted on the label. max watt for 12v is 672w and 56A.

It should be operated under the assumption that it's a 450W unit. Ripple goes out of spec after that, which causes damage to your components.

never heard of a low end delta psu

I know I have a old 350w delta one I pulled out of a old gateway gaming system
it's about 6~7 years old and rock solid (in my 3dfx system)

I know you're in love with Delta and all but there are millions of mediocre/average Delta units everywhere They can make very good units when they put their hearts to it but that's sort of exceptional. They're generally very reliable and well built but their performance is rarely stellar. Check the popular Antec EA-500D Green as an example, ripple on the minor rails is very unimpressive, and that's typical of Delta's mid-range.

you don't think Antec changed anything with it?
would not surprise me if they did

what unit is it based on

edit
looks like just the transformers or delta made
