How do you figure a reinstall is last resort? it only takes 10 -15min....Getting a new graphics card take way longer then that and costs money.

I would agree here. Especially if the OP has an external drive, or any sort of hard drive which he can make a system image with, or just a backup.

All you have to do is reset the game's resolution. Happens to me all the time when I switch monitors. Worst case scenario is a game reinstall.

Exactly what I said.

Try this first:
Go into Safe Mode and use the System File Configuration utility to set the machine to Base Video (VGA). Do Start>Run>msconfig [OK]. The System Configuration Utility appears. Click the BOOT.INI tab. Under Boot Options, check "/BASEVIDEO." and click OK. Reboot the computer into Regular Mode. Now set the resolution to the correct one for your monitor. Don't forget to go back to the System File Configuration utility and uncheck "/BASEVIDEO". Apply and OK out.

got that from google..

if not, try to go revert back to an earlier state...

thanks to all, and thank you in specific, I reinstalled Windows yesterday, and now things are going well, but I will try this later in case I go into troubles, especially that Metro 2033 did the same thing this time when I excuted it, and messed up with my screen resolution again for no back, but I had already created a system restore piont which came in handy this time.

I am still curious to know what to do with this game to play it ??

I wonder if there is any patch that fixes this, or if there was any one like me that passed under this problem ?
especially that this game made the same problem for me before, on another graphics card, and on a different LCD too.

I'm not sure about Metro 2033, but most games have a system.ini or autoexe.cfg, or something like that where you can change the resolution manually. Try finding it for Metro and see if you can edit it to change your resolution.
