CM 690 II Advanced vs HAF 922 - Page 2

My vote goes to the HAF 922, even though I have never owned a 690II. The airflow is awesome and it's so easily customizable (see mod in sig if you want an example). You have a lot of space to work in it (seriously it's a cathedral in there) and adding watercooling is easy. It's also very quiet for the airflow it provides (with stock fans I mean). Really great case, you can't go wrong with it!

EDIT*: Oh ya and if you use a big cooler, it will fit easily inside the HAF. It's also prettier then the 690II IMO...

Well, 2 * 240mm rads without modding is unusual for a mid tower case; as far as I know it is the only one that supports it.

Also you can actually get a 120mm rad in on the fan mount near the CPU socket, as long as you use a thin rad up top. That gives a total of 600mm or rad in a mid tower. Not too shabby.

But as the OP hasn't actually mentioned watercooling...

Another vote for the 690 II, the interior looks great and personally I don't like the look of the HAF cases (very subjective I know).

The 922 is a touch longer at 22 inches vs 20.8 and it is wider at 10 inches vs 8.4 so all but the most massive air coolers will fit it. The 690 may be cramped for some air coolers and the longer vid cards may have fit issues. (If you use all the 3.5 inch bays) However the bottom half of the 3.5 inch drive cages does come off so even long cards should not be an issue.

Either case is a solid choice though.
But the bottom half is not where the graphics card will go, it would be the top 2 HDD slots.

I love my 690 II. The only disadvantage I have found is the one you already listed regarding the length of video cards. If it was not for that, I would already have put a pair of MSI HD6970 lightning in this case. Sure, I could pop the rivets in the top HDD cage and fit them in without issue, but I will likely just go with shorter cards. I cannot comment on the 922, other than I think they are kind of ugly. But that is just me, since I do not like flashy cases.

The 690 ii is just more refined, lots of little touches like the painted interior, cable management grommets (they are really worth it).

Sure the 922 is a good case but the 690 is pure quality.

Im actually thinking of swapping out my HAF 922 for the 690 ii (white)...purely for aesthetic reasons. i like the stock look of the whole thing..I've been meaning to paint the interior of my HAF for some time but have never got round to it. i like the grommets and the colour scheme. I don't plan to expand too much inside - graphics cards is not an issue...one thing i do prefer about the 690 over the 922 is the 5.25 bay lock/release mechanism...much better than the HAF...although you may not be using it alot its definitely better. Its difficult to tell whether the drive is optical drive is secure without shaking it about tongue.gif ..not a major issue, but it also looks better imo
