The stupid memory on the 545 is less over the top than the memory config they used on the OEM GT 420 though - at least this card has 144 shaders and will be resonably quick and capable of some gaming use.

The GT 420 had just 48 shaders and came with 2GB DDR3.

Can't blame nVidia for this though - it's the big OEMs putting pressure on them (and AMD) to make the cards sound impressive to the general population that cause this problem. nVidia just wouldn't bother with it otherwise...

"Superb images for gaming" - sure, you'll be gaming at the "images" level, a slow succession of images wink.gif

PLEASE NVIDIA RELEASE THE GeForce GT 545 with 3GB of gddr5 memory to retail stores in the future, please.
This, would be a great entry level CUDA card.

On a last note, they should of added 256bit to the 545, hopefully they will once it hit retails.
They won't, since:
1) It's a GF116 chip, there's not 256bit bus in there.
2) It won't hit retail anyways. frown.gif
