As for Gray Mole, I am fairly sure his was a much more experimental unit that was not a blend as much as a sliding Joule-Thomas system. (A bit hard to explain so I'll give you the name to look it up if you can find it, check patent information). Basically a stageless autocascade.

Interesting, so that's why that one guy who used the F1 as an evap had good results?

Damn, well I'm glad we had this discussion...if the chilly1 line set won't get me what I want, and the compressor won't either...then there's not much use in picking up that stuff from him. Well...it would be just trading stuff I have for it, so I guess I wouldn't have any money into it.

Damn the cold bug, and not the one the CPU gets...the one the bencher gets tongue.gif

Since I don't have the money for a cascade, and that seems to be really what I'd desire, I guess I'll just have to move to ln2

I can agree with that sentiment. Also that F1 pot was on a 3 stage cascade, had a slight advantage

It would be really hard regardless to get the tools and pieces just by trading to make a single stage. I've yet to meet an AC shop that can do it right, they'll just charge her up to a "hunch" level and you won't get to tune

Okay, so it seems like I should just skip this deal all together, as none of it really fits what I am looking for.

Ah...just checked my PM's and he would be interested in trading the phase (it's a complete unit, but the suction line sprung a leak, and he has the brand new lineset from under the ice) for my iPod and Xbox. I don't use either of those things, and would use a phase...but it's not really the load handling I'm looking for
Damn, what to do...

I would have to get it pressure tested and filled by the AC shop, and like you said... there isn't specific pressures I can tell them to fill it to?

Edit: This is a tough call, I don't use the stuff I'll be trading for it...so it's a good deal in that sense for me. Say I get this thing, and fix it up and get it recharged, what would it be worth used?
Another benefit is I'll also have two evaps, one will just need the suction line replaced or repaired...so I could pick up some other cheap parts and make a second one and possibly make some money off this?

The only thing that worries me is the AC shop like you said...I don't have the money to buy a pressure tester myself, and the gas, or tools to fill the unit...and that's pretty much the most important part.
What are the chances I can give the AC shop enough specific information that they can get it right?

Pretty sure I'm just going to pass on the deal. Like mentioned, the chilly1 isn't ideal for todays loads...and the lineset is only 3ft.

For low load stuff it might not be too bad. The phase I got from you won't hold an i7 at full load, even at stock clocks.

However, it'll definitely hold one core at 5.3GHz between -40°C and -45°C for Super Pi 32M

Basically, it's enough to do high load stuff for a very short period (WPrime 32M) and low load/single core stuff for quite a while.

I really want to build a phase... or at least upgrade this compressor and evap...

Time to make a new thread!

Yeah I never got a chance with it on an intel, worked well with amd though.

Pick up the unit from sno and make your own mini cascade

Haha I have a feeling it takes a bit more than that

I looking into the prices of refrigerants and that's when I stopped. The only tweo that you can buy without a license are 134a and 410a and they're both ~$200 for a canister. Granted, that will probably fill tons of systems, but this would be a one-time thing.

I'm going to be releasing some low power cascades as well with similar specs It can be done. Those cans for $200 will make 20-30 systems with proper tuning measures. But when you see the price of cascade refrigerants, get ready to lose your jaw. R23 can be $70 PER pound. Minimum order 10-20 lbs. R14, $150-200 a pound.

If I had $1k I'd be all over that ugly triple stage you're selling. I am working this summer, though. I start Monday. Would you possible be able to case that?

I'm not selling an ugly 3 stager? Am I? O.o
Scott is selling one for one of his customers, made from the bits of an old 3 stager I built that got shipwrecked in transit.

And yes, I will be casing the miny cascades, aluminum made from sheet and extrusion, option for acrylic and other features.
