Bulldozer or sand bridge?

Thread Starter
Hey guys lookin to get a new build by end of the summer. Hopefully when the high end sandy bridge comes out.

I was doing some research and found out that sand bridge on lga 2011 platform will be coming out by the end of the year. wiki stats them as having 6 cores and quad channel memory

on the other hand i saw amd bulldozer with 8 cores and again with quad channel memory.

Just wanted some thoughts on it

Since neither are out yet, you will just have to wait and see.
LGA2011 and BD, i mean.
Can't tell yet, I would wait to see how each performs and what their prices are first.

As others have stated, we don't know enough to actually answer your question. It's sort of like asking which one will be faster, the 2017 Ford Mustang, or the 2017 Chevy Camaro?

Yea time will tell, Will BD will have it's hands full with 1155 ?

Time line is what is important here.

2011 will be late fourth quarter and it would not surprise me if they wait until early 2012, especially if BD stuggles against 1155. If it opens a can of woop @$$ on Intel they may push it out the door earlier than expsected

But just between you and me, wait for real world results as all this pre release stuff is not reliable

I have 1155 and I can voutch for it personally, it is truly a great platform, That being said at least wait for the BD release and decide from there if the wait is worth it. if not not pull the trigger on the best platform you buy that day ..... there will always be something better around the corner

don't forget 600 and 7K series cards will be running around by then as well

Good luck

Thanks for the response guys. I am kinda new to hardware news recently i was just wondering whats the hype you guys feel about both.

BD seems like a great platform that should compete with intel on enterprise level (>$250 for proc). Been a long time!! didnt buy an amd since athlon 64

Looking at wiki I see that only the top of the top will have 6 core sandy bridge ex (prices should reflect imo).

Anyway, i can upgrade at mid august the earliest so was just starting my research. My 930 does great anyway
