I'm sick of eyefinity... - Page 3

I kind of hate eyefinity myself, the "wow" factor as previously mentioned is cool for a day or two, but after that I just disabled it. I'm glad I got the 3rd monitor for free, because I really don't even play with eyefinity anymore. And also having to disable it just to watch a movie is annoying as hell, should be possible to maximize windows to a single monitor.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, far from, but I prefer to use 1 monitor for most games anyway.

Wow, crazy amount of hatred, personally I love my setup. if for additional desktop space alone its worth it, im not a huge gamer these days but NFS shift with a wheel and pedals, you just cant beat it. While there are negative's (cost, gpu load) the positives far outweigh them

I don't understand... Why are you disabling it after the initial wow-factor? I mean, what are you losing when using Eyefinity besides performance? Also, aren't most of the complaints here that the landscape mode ruins cutscenes and such? Why not just use portrait-mode?

It depends. Some like it some don't.

But you shouldn't do anti-eyefinity propaganda either. The way to advise people is to tell them about the benefits and downsides of eyefinity, not just one or the other. If you only embrace it or hate it, you're being dishonest.

What exactly are your issues with eyefinity OP? The only real issue with eyefinity is the HUD that most games put on the side monitors. After that, pretty much most games work like a charm.

If you're complaining about the side monitors being distorted, that's too bad. This issue cannot be fixed for as long as we use current day FOV scaling methods, which work a lot like IRL optics. Higher FOV will always result in distortion on the sides, even on single screens. And no matter how low the FOV, there will always be some degree of distortion.

If you have issues with the performance, too bad. Eyefinity is not something you can do on a budget GPU that well. I'd say that two 6950 would be the minimum comfort zone for eyefinity. Anything less, and might have performance issues. You do realize how much power it takes to run 6 million pixels?

If you're talking about desktop usage issues when all windows maximize to all screens, use profiles. That's why they are there, and that's why eyefinity is a superior solution to nVidia surround. Profiles.

If you're complaining about games that don't support it, you either play games from pre 2006, or just generally try to find faults in eyefinity. Most games I play support it.

Also might want to angle the screens towards you. Makes for a much more immersive experience.

My biggest issue would of course be performance, but you know, pixels are pixels.

Whether you would enjoy a hassle like eyefinity or not depends on you, and how perfectionist you are. It's definitely not for everyone.

I freaking love eyefinity. Even if you didn't use it in games, 3 screens + productivity equals awesome.
