what's the limit of my card ?

hi...

I just have a simple question about a card that most of you have tried so far...

as you see I own the MSi N450GTS OC editon, so I wonder how far I can go with this card ?

I am currently at 953 GPU clock, 1906 shader, and 962 memory, using the latest version of MSi after burner, so I wonder if I can go higher than this safely ??

- also I am wondering if I have really got the OC editon or not ?

because GPUz is reporting that the original clock speed is 783, while it's supposed to he higher if I am not mistaken in the PC editons of the 450GTS, right ?

best regards.

Mostly depends on the voltage required to achieve those and higher speeds. Every card will be different.

GPUz might not be set to recognized custom OC models, it is probably just recognizing the default card type.

If you enable all the voltage controls in afterburner you can OC further.

GPU-Z is probably just reading the card wrong as the stock reference design.

well, what are some safe voltage increase values for this card that I can be confident setting it at?

Afterburner will keep you from going excessively far, but 1.1 - 1.13v is usually a good place to stop unless you are running a waterloop through it. If you want to be extra safe, 1.09v is a good place to stop... Temperatures usually start to hold back the overclocks though before dangerous voltages get used, and the GTS 450 has good enough VRM's to handle the voltage.

You can get some serious overclock power at those voltages.

Most GTS450s are capable of overclocks in the mid 900mhz range (core). Some can surpass 1000mhz. A voltage bump will be required. How high you go is dictated by the overclocking software's preset voltage limit (unless you decide to surpass it) and the temperature/noise level you hope to achieve. If temperatures and noise are within desired levels, you should be fine pumping the card with up to 1.162v. GF106-based GPUs run cool (and the reference design is fairly capable) - You will generally be limited by the GPU itself rather than GPU temperature when overclocking a GTS450.
