Nvidia GTX580 alternative?

So basically I'm making my first build, but I have a problem just as I was all ready to buy it realized it wouldn't work with my 27 apple cinema display because of the lack of display port. Since I don't want to buy a 150 dollar adapter that may perform cheaply, what would you suggest to replace the nvidia card? =)

Processing
Intel Core i7 2600k
EVGA Nvidia GTX 580 3gb
ASUS P8P67 DELUXE LGA 1155

Memory
Corsair Vengeance Blu 8 GB PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3 240-Pin SDRAM Dual Channel Memory Kit

Storage
OCZ Vertex 3 Sata 3 120gb
Western Digital 2 TB Caviar Black SATA 6GB/s 7200 RPM 64 MB (for hot swap with my htpc)
Western Digital WD Caviar Black 1 TB SATA 6 GB/S 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache

Case & Cooling
Corsair CC800DW Obsidian 800D Cpu Case
Corsair Hydro Series H70 Water cooling

Power
Corsair Proffesional S Gold High Performance 1200W PSU (for future SLI)
APC L12000 Voltage Regulator

Extras
LG Electronics 10X Blu-ray SATA Writer Drive with Software WH10LS30K - Bulk
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings - Collector's Edition (The whole reason I'm replacing my old Mac)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD Internal Sound Card with THX SB1270

My question is: Would a crossfire hd radeon 6970 work with this setup? I mean it would work with my motherboard and current setup?

Also, thank you very much! You guys have already saved me of making stupid purchases =)

The MSI N580GTX Lightning GeForce GTX 580 1.5GB has a display port.

The MSI R6970 Lightning Radeon HD 6970 2GB with 500mb more has two display ports.

With your 1200 watt PSU you'll have no issues with SLI or Crossfire for either and your mobo and chip is more than enough. Good luck and have fun putting it together. I enjoyed putting mine recently, work in progress almost finished since December as I pieced it.

I would buy a 6990 and add it to your loop. If you can get it up to around 1050MHz core clock you would have the equivalent of 580 SLI (stock) and it is not much more expensive than 1 580 3GB.

There are probably others. I found it on Amazon for $150 which is a LOT for an adapter (that could be spent in performance). I chose to spend that money in a xfire 6970

Edit: Found an adapter for 100 that doesnt supports 2560x1440 which is the one that I have
