ME2 was ruined by the fact that they required you to babysit your Squad through their quests and were pretty stupid, considering the time you were wasting instead of saving people from the collectors. Then Factor in the fact that the main quest was maybe 8 hours long at most, and really didnt build upon everything set up in the first one. There were no hard choices, they all boiled down to what i wanted to happen, and gave me that option, never once was there a moment when i was torn between picking 2 things, something that has happened probably over a dozen times in the witcher 2 alone now.
I hate to say it, but the Human reaper is probably the worst joke i have ever seen in a game. Seriously, when i saw it, i quite nearly turned it off there and thought to myself, really, i played the game this long only to be punked.
Oh, well when you put it like that, I guess everyone hated ME2. Or, at least those who actually LIKED it are just wrong and they like it for all the wrong reasons.
You say "babysit squad", I say character development.
What are you trying to accomplish? Do you think you'll change anyone's mind? I'm in the midst of TW2, and it's a wonderful experience, but I still prefer the characters/storytelling of Mass Effect.
So no, Mass Effect 2 didn't "failsauce" (?), as evidenced by the fact that it received almost universal praise from both critics and fans. You have every right to disagree, but you have to understand that Bioware can't please everyone.
