X58 - Marvell 9182 (R3 BE) RAID 0 or not? - Page 2

Nice... I know that MB has EVERYTHING top of the line... Have been keeping an eye on it to make more use of my X58 chipset... The Marvel 9128 controller and it's limit were the main thing I kept my eye on especially with the Vertex 3. With your extreme setup, i'd say even one 240 GB Vertex 3 would make that difference as a boot drive... Maybe keep the C300 for loading games on for faster loading? I agree that two V3's is overkill but with that system... why not...?

I currently have C300 256B

I was considering:
1) One more C300 256GB for RAID 0 on SATA III Marvel 9182 (yes it works)
2) 2x Vertex 3 120GB
3) 2x Vertex 3 240GB
4) 2x Crucial M4 256GB

What do you think?

Here's what I think:
1) Lack of TRIM shouldn't hurt me - it's just OS and programs, top 150GB and I can leave it idle from time to time for GC
2) Will I see real life performance boost? Loading windows (currently 13s), substantially faster game loads? Or is it mostly benchmarks and what I have is fine (albeit not xtreme

Thanks in advance for your opinions!
Its you

Well done luke, you have the most badass system at OCN & Guru3d yet you want to upgrade it even more.
If you have infinite budget then get x2 M4s and RAID 0 them.
Personally i dont rich like you so i would automaticily get another C300.

inb4 tears, what happened to your P6X58D?

I don't think so, there's plenty 3x580, 4x580, 2x 980x and so on...

Though I have to say I try to keep it look as nice as I can rather than throw it all in a case, it's my hobby

I don't so due to not great benefits in real life (mostly benchmarks) I decided to keep only my C300. It's plenty fast for me anyway

P6X58D-E sold with all the blocks.
I have only "old" Dominators and 2x week old D5-Strong 24V with converters pumps left for sale

Thanks, I'm flattered

It's the anodised and brushed aluminium, I got red sheet and cut it to size.
Painted piece wouldn't look as nice, especially on the close up when you can see the brushed lines on the side panel and the sheet
I like these nice details
