Cold boot issues after OCING. No idea what the problem is.

First of all HELLO! I hate for my first post to be one of aid, but I am new to overclocking and unfortunately seemed to have borked things. Even working as a computer repair technician the problem I'm having is out of the scope of my experience thus I am asking you fine people who have way more experience to help me out ^.^.

Rig Info:
Motherbopard: Asus R3E
Processor: I7-920 D0 stepping.
Cooling: True 120 with two fans.
Hard drives: western digital wd1002faex x2 in raid 0
PSU: Coolermaster real power pro 1000W psu.
GPU: Nvidia GTX480 (EVGA)
Ram: OCZ OCZ3OB1600LV6GK

I built this pc last summer and have been meaning to oc ever since but haven't had the time. I invested in decent equipment made to OC and the build has good potential. Likely I should be using better ram and we will get to that. I decided I wanted a quick and easy OC to see what difference it made. That was my first mistake I know ^.^". So I followed this guide:

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...920-930-a.html

I used the quick and dirty method, and managed a clock of 4.0 very easily. Ran prime95 all night, no errors, max temp overnight only reached 76 on one core the rest were bellow 73. The problem came when i went to shut down the pc.

I did a restart from windows and the pc just hung powered on with a black screen, i assumed windows finished shutting down but the pc itself would not. So i did a manual power off. Now I am having the most peculiar problem. Cold booting takes about 10 times before the pc will actually start. It powers on for a fraction of a second, then goes off, try again and it goes and off again. Then every once in a while it will start normally and as long as I don't power it off completely it's stable. I can do soft boots, anything as long as it's not totally shut down it boots fine.

Any suggestions and help would be useful.

Thanks!
Zedd.

- I ALSO tried to push it to 210 bclk which i forgot about. Not sure if that would have messed it up, and i put cpu voltage to 1.275. I left multiplier at 21 and I think it was actually only after i did this i started having the problem. I did a CMOS reset but it doesn't seem to help.

- Will try updating the bios no idea if that will help or not, since i'm running the original shipped one.

- The raid disks are new as of yesterday and after this problem the windows partition on them didn't want to work. Will this happen every time I reset the bios?

Original shipped bios? Which one? I use bios 1005 and works great. I see there's been a few more added the past couple months but haven't tried any yet. I really don't think that trying 210bclk would hurt anything, maybe a BSOD. I've taken my 920do up to 222bclk and never hurt anything. If your using a bios before 1005, try using that one. Seems to run great for everything I've done. Just brought my 980x up to 4.65ghz last night with no prob.

Yeah I should have updated before posting, but i was worried. I did the update to 1301 and I don't have the boot issue at all anymore and am now happily back to 4.0GHZ my bad on the waste of a post ^.^".

Still no idea why my raid drives forced me to re-install windows and weren't bootable anymore, but a quick reinstall seems to be doing fine. If anyone can shed some light on that, I would appreciate the insight. (And yes I re-enabled raid after clearing cmos/updating the bios.)
